God, what a beauty! LP double cutaway Juniors are one of my favorite guitars, and knowing the quality of those lawsuit Ibanez’ (I have a ’77 LP Custom copy), I can only imagine how that thing must feel.

How come the body is so pristine after being on the road?

Yep had one of these, it was easily on par with my Gibson. Unfortunately it came to it’s end after a gig at caringbah where i totaled it in a fit of rage.
At least i only paid $265 with case for it in the mid 1990’s. but still….

Hey Anthony. It was pretty much mint when Dan got it and he only played it a few shows before buying the Gibson. Dan wasn’t a big P90 fan but he didn’t want to rip out the original Ibanez pickup and ruin the collectability of the guitar, so he packed it away. There’s only a few small chips here and there on the headstock etc, which is pretty good for a 35 year old guitar.

Nice guitar. I used to play one of these but with a single Ibanez Super 58 humbucker and a plain black scratchplate. Like a damn fool, I swapped it for a Yamaha cheesebox organ (which sounded great, but I couldn’t play keys) to an approximate value of about $125 at a secondhand shop at what is now called Colmslie Mall. Sheesh! Another guy used to get around Brisbane with one of these was a guy called Mark Wilkinson who later played in The Lime Spiders and The New Christs.

my Ibanez Junior was an amazing guitar. The scratchplate had started to crack up similarly. I bought the guitar as a kid off Andrew Faux(Sister Christmas & brother of Brisbane guitar luthier Simon Faux).

It had an original P-90 out of an original ’58 Gibson TV Junior that Andrew had put in. I used it for many years but eventually sold it via Eastside Music in Bondi to Jed Starr from Killing Time. Of course I kept the ’58 P-90 & have used that in my Gibson TVII Special ever since.

I was with a mate of mine when he bought one of these in a Melb guitar shop back in the mid 70’s (showing my age). Anyway, he pretty well never played it but in an poorly inspired moment, he let some moron who portrayed himself as a “professional” repairer, loose on it to replace the pick guard & bridge. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I ended up buying it off him a few years ago and replacing the butchered pick guard and bridge, gave it to Jim Cargill to give a once over. What a beautiful instrument it is – the action and neck is the best I’ve ever had and the sound of that 37 year old P90 is just magical. The only thing I ended up having to do is potting the P90 as it was very microphonic which made playing with any sort of high gain impossible. I wasn’t really worried about ruining its “collectability” as both the original bridge and pick guard are long gone and I have no intention of selling it ever. For a guitar that is 37 years old, you would swear that it was brand new – no dings, scratches or fret wear – that’s what you get when a guitar is left in its case under a bed for its whole life.

Looks delicios. I have one of these coming, minus pickguard, which disintegrated in exactly the same toffee-colored manner. I don’t suppose you have any idea if a standard Gibson DC pickguard fits?

Hey can someone help me find as much info as I can on my rare ibanez concord 698E jumbo with abalone markings. It’s a Japan made model and is in pristine condition. We’ll look forward to hearing back from someone thanks
